The Creatures In the Garden of Lady Walton by Clogs

To be honest I really have no idea, what should I write for this album by Clogs. This is their fifth album and the first non-instrumental from them.Yet,some of the tracks is instrumental. They have features guest vocalists Sufjan Stevens, Matt Berninger, and Shara Worden to sing a few tracks in this album. This is a really great album. Really good. I have no idea how should I classify this album though. Should I put it under 'classical'? But it does not seem classical to me at all. Instrumental?

cover

The whole album is 'fresh'. Is really hard to find this kind of music and not to mention the fantastic music being played by this band. The music is intriguing and captivating. Not to mention, the voice of the guest vocalist which is absolutely fascinating. If you like Balmorhea or Rachel's or Yasushi Yoshida I think you would most probably like this band too.

The music is beautifully played by the band and when it matches with the vocal of the vocalist. Geez, it was mind blowing good. I like all the songs in this album. I will give it 5 out of 5. The track On the Edge is a piece of it own. The voice of Shara Worden is just fantastic. Her voice range is so diversify. She also sings in the track The Owl of Love. Magnificent! Same goes to I Used to Do which I really like the music that begins at 1.20mins. However, the track that pulled a string in my heart gotta be Last Song. I don’t know why but it just gave me this sense of peacefulness calm, serene. As like I was just standing beside the seaside looking at the horizon.

Nothing Like The Love I have for You by Egil Oslen

Nothing Like The Love I have for you is the second album from Egil Oslen, which was released in October 9th, 2009. A Norwegian he is. I have to confess I was attracted by his album cover when I listen to his album. Because his album artwork is so cute and full with love and yet a teeny bit of melancholy.

folder how can you not love this album art?
Obviously this is an album about love. The naive kind of love. Think puppy love that kind of love. Not the oh-i-die-for-you that kind of love. Get it? The lyrics is simple and straight forward. Thus, it was quite a different experience when listening to this album. You don’t have to gone cuckoo trying to decipher what the lyric means. Is simple, clean and light.

Egil Olsen has a very mellow voice. Which sometimes it sound like he is whispering softly like he was afraid of waking something. The whole album, yup every single fourteen tracks has this warm melodious lullaby kind of music which definitely is a good album for a peaceful chill out night. Imagine a glass of red wine while sitting at the balcony with legs crossed looking at the city night view while your love one was resting her/his head on your shoulder. Le sigh~~when will this be a reality for me? ok off topic. Just like those review in his website, it is almost impossible to not be happy whilst listening to this album.

photo_eo5_hi a super talented guy with uber cute character
This album is a rare gem in that one should posses. Oh, yeah I kid you not. His music is like a new breath of oxygen in this mainstream-polluted-all-about-money music scenes. Or imagine F1 race car everything is so fast and furious, not to mention the sound pollution. Then when they pull over into pit-stop. That’s is how his music like. A break from all this chaos. Ok, enough of example, goddamn it! Just listen to his music then you will understand.

I don’t have credit card thus can’t open a iTunes account and Malaysia CDs stores is just sucks like that. So, please please those who can afford to buy it or can find the album just buy the original ok. This kind of talented musician really need a lot of support before they get axed by the labels because not making enough money for the labels unlike those singing-fuck-you in the song singers. Go to his website to buy the original, from itunes.

One of the song from this album. Do check out his other youtube clips.

ABCDEFG by Chumbawamba

Ok, honestly I only found out this band recently. Accidentally stumble upon this album and after wiki it, it was said that this band only released three albums in the span of over 27 freaking years! Unbelievable, that’s the reason why I downloaded this album to listen.

Yeah, I know ABCDEFG what kind of album name is this. Perhaps, the next one is HIJK…till…Z? But, boy my skeptical put me to a shame for judging it by its’ cover. Because, this is a brilliant album. Lesson learnt, never judge a book album by it cover.
cover

For a 17tracks-length album, this is one of the album that you will listen from the first song to the last song. It was such a joy to listen to. Most of the tracks were folks ballad and acoustic but it was bubbly and catchy. Some of the track like Dance, Idiot, Dance was hilarious. Ratatatay was a simple song and extremely catchy. I was suppose to be studying but somehow I just start to sing along with the song. What a song it is. And I was smiling while singing it.

It was said that Chumbawamba had been always using their music to send a certain political message. And yeap, the song Torturing James Hetfield prove it. The lyric was hilarious and sarcastic enough. Apparently, James Hetfield the lead singer of Metallica had approve that their song can be use to torture the prisoner in Guantanamo Bay. :S I guess it must be a torment to listen to Metallica then. Haha…
well we got james hetfield
and we tied him up tight
naked and cold
we kept the strip lights bright
now look what we've brought for you james
your favorite disc
it's Chumbawamba-
they're greatest hits (there's only one)
Such sarcasm is priceless. Metal and folks ain’t a match in heaven. LOL!

Pickle is a melodious track which I absolutely adore. Missed like the review (fantastic review) here it symbolize the modern music culture. It start off with a mellow acoustic tune then in the back of the song you can hear techno music. New York Song describe what a person face when being new in this big apple city. Puccini Said was mixed with opera. Superb.

This is an album that those who likes music should get. It covered folks, acoustic and a hint of acapella. You probably won’t disappointed by it.

VS4 by Robin Skouteris

Finally, after much awaits the VS4 remix by Dj Robin Skouteris was released 2 days ago. I think most of you probably heard his remixes before without realize who the Dj is. If you ever heard the amazing remix of ‘I know You want Love Celebration’ a massup consist of Lady Gaga (Lovegame), Madonna (Celebration) and Pitbull (Calle Ocho) then you should know this Dj. I’m sure you can found a lot of piracy cd on the market for his works and you have to pay for it. Guess what, he actually post up his remixes for free downloading.
folder
He is really one hell of a Dj. His remixes were amazing. His previous 3 albums were much more towards club dance tracks with heavy bass. In VS4, the tracks were touch up with some dark new age. Of course there were still have commercial pop in it. But it definitely bring this album to a whole new level. Which is really good. Requiem for a Romance for example is one helluva mix which consist of Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, Yinon Yahel’s Dramatic Beatz and Requiem For a Dream soundtrack. And the editing of the video is amazing. Full with awesomeness. If you are into remix tracks this Dj works is a must have. This is freaking talented. Every tracks were like an art piece. You can download his album at this link he post up. His facebook fan pages is over here.

Nine Soundtrack

Nine is quite a disappointment actually considering the success of Chicago which was directed by the same director Rob Marshall. Is kind of boring and flat. The movie literally don’t have any climax at all. It was fantastic to see so many great actress in this film like Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Kate Hudson, Fergie and last but not least Marion Cotilard.

nine-cover

It was such a waste, to see all this actress do not have much more to expand their characters in this movie. Worst still I have no idea why they put Fergie in the movie? Her character seems like ill placed and do not have any connection with the movie at all. Yet, I think she did a fabulous job for her performance when she sing “Be Italian." Kate Hudson actually was quite impressive with her performance singing “Cinema Italiano”.
The movie do seems like trying to squeeze way too many songs in the movie. Sometimes, less is more. Nine is way too over nine. It lack of storylines or to expand the storylines into more details. It much more like touch and go.

At the end of the movie, I still don’t know what causes Guido to lost his talent in directing movies. The only enjoyable part was watching the singing part. At least, the soundtracks were decent enough.

The trailer is nice but the movie is not. :(

Sound of the Defeat by Until June

And she turned -
"Nobody knows you like I do,
nobody knows the way your mind can move
Always taking me back"

Then she left -
"Nobody loves you like I did,
nobody loves the way your eyes can move
Always taking me back"

When she left -
"Nobody loves you like I did
Nobody loves the way your eyes can love
Always taking me back"
This is part of the lyric from Nobody Knows You from this EP, Sound of the Defeat by Until June. My favourite song from this album. Such melodious track with incredible lyric. It is a sweet and painful ballad and Josh vocal range is mind blowing. Sometimes, the person we love is the person we know the least. The perfect stranger. I think this is what this track tried to portray. At least this is how I interpret this song.

soundofdefeatsmall

There were a total of six tracks in this EP. Apart from Nobody Knows You, In My Head is also another fantastic track. It has a subtle touch of light pop music which is really nice and I think this is what makes it more appealing to the listener. It’s easy for the listener to remember this song. I love how the piano and the drum sound match together in this track through out the whole song. It is addictive and it feels like you are anticipating something when listening to the beat. And boy, the lead singer, Josh has a really high pitch voice.
Baby (Hope You Understand) is another good track. I love how they sings the part 'Baby I won’t waste your time. If I love? but never try’. 'The world ends tonight’ has a gentle beat through out the whole song. It was really nice to listen to.

In My Head was featured in Grey’s Anatomy too.

Lights by Ellie Goulding

At first when I listen to this album, Lights by Ellie Goulding. I thought ‘hey, this is really good!’ No wonder she won the BBC Sound of 2010. The whole album sounded ‘fresh’ as it is really hard to find this kind of genres at Malaysia airwaves. Folktronica, a combination of folk and electronica, synthpop (La Roux) and electronica. But…

cover

I don’t know why. But, the more I listen to it the more I think maybe she was over hyped. No doubt there were a couple of good songs in the album with decent lyrics. Yet, the album did not grow on me over the time. I can’t really feel, how she want to make us feel for the songs. Is quite vague. Sometimes, I thought I was listening to La Roux as La Roux also belongs to the same genre. But, it seems like La Roux managed to pull it off and she was just almost somewhere reaching there.

I don’t exactly know how should I comment or feel about the mixing of folks and electronica because I do think that it is a bad idea. But base on this album well, at least it turn out to be decent enough. Still I prefer to give it more time.

No doubt the album gives me a brand new experience while listening to it as like I said before this kind of genres were not very popular in Malaysia except a few or two. And some of the songs in the album were quite catchy and worth listen to like Guns and Horses, Starry Eyed, This Love (will be your downfall) and Under The Sheets. But, I guess this is an album I probably will get over with. It fail to ‘grab’ me.
Well, at least this song was good. Released on 22 Feb 2010. Album 1 March 2010.

Reloaded (unreleased) by Lady Gaga

Reloaded by Lady Gaga. Yeah, this is a leak album which I just found on the internet. From the information it seems like this is the track that didn’t make it in The Fame Monster album. The single Reloaded in this album was feat with Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins, no idea who he is.

tumblr_kuwz6zoJl31qzaygk

But it does, seems like this song lack  the flavour of Gaga. It’s more towards R&B then Gaga. All the songs in The Fame Monster was so Gaga, if you know what I mean. Glam, electronic/dance, upbeat. No wonder this one didn’t make it in the album. Nonetheless, there were other songs in this album which is far better than the single like Dirty Ice Cream, Kaboom and Fooled me again (Honest Eyes).  Oh and Gaga did a cover of Viva La Vida of Coldplay and Imagine of Beatles.

I think other songs overshadow this single.

Much Better
